Million Dollar Mouse: NZ's Sub-Antarctic Islands' Pest Eradication
5pm – 6pm, Free
Discovery of New Zealand’s Sub-Antarctic islands in the 1800s led to sealing, whaling, farming and the introduction of exotic species. More than 200 years later, the Department of Conservation (DOC) has been tasked with protecting and preserving these islands in perpetuity, undoing any damage from the early settlers. Experts from DOC and Gareth Morgan’s Million Dollar Mouse program will tell the NZ success story of the pest eradication on these wild and inhospitable islands and give insight into the work still to be done.
