Every whisky is an adventure. In 1908 Ernest Shackleton’s British Antarctic Expedition ventured to the icy continent loaded with various supplies, including 25 cases of Mackinlay’s whisky. A century later, the Antarctic Heritage Trust, who care for Shackleton’s original expedition base, discovered three crates of whisky under his hut at Cape Royds, Antarctica. After careful conservation and scientific analysis, the whisky was replicated and Mackinlay’s Rare Old Highland Malt was reborn. Find out the story behind this remarkable discovery touted ‘the whisky find of the century’.
